The staircase was reconstructed to improve circulation, the WCs were relocated, and the interior was comprehensively soundproofed. A new sound system was installed alongside refreshed finishes throughout, giving the venue a sharper, more contemporary edge.
The pharmacy and laboratory needed to connect more efficiently, with a new staircase linking the two spaces. The existing roof was removed and replaced with a glazed atrium, transforming what could have been a simple intervention into a light filled vertical space.
This project involved a full reconfiguration and refurbishment of the previous premises. The design embraces the industrial heritage of Shoreditch, using exposed and new cast in-situ concrete, galvanised ducting and electrical conduit, brickwork, brick tiling, and plywood.

The original elevation was disconnected from its neighbours. Structure and symmetry were introduced through carefully reframed openings and a dual-tone brick slip system responding to the tones of the adjacent buildings. At roof level, a lattice brick pattern softens the terrace wall.
